Former India opener, Gautam Gambhir takes a dig at fans stating that the Indian Cricket fans are obsessed with individual players and not with the whole team. The 41-year-old stated that the players in teams like New Zealand, Australia, and England gave priority to their country and not to the players.

“Our country is not team obsessed, it’s individual-obsessed. We count individuals bigger than our team, in other countries like England, Australia, New Zealand, the team is bigger and not the individual,” Gautam Gambhir was quoted as saying in News 18. The World Cup-winning player further opined that Indian Cricket lovers will always remember the picture of Kapil Dev holding the trophy after clinching the 1983 World Cup but no one will remember Mohinder Amarnath who guided the side to the victory.

We’ll see whatever is required and whatever is best: Rohit Sharma

In the meanwhile, the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma asserted that their team will be making some changes in the upcoming edition of the World Test Championship (WTC). But still, the main concern for India is whether the players like Rohit, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ravindra Jadeja will be playing the longest format of the game or not until 2025 or not.

“Obviously, there will be some talks around it [team combination] and we’ll see whatever is required and whatever is best, whatever the brand of cricket we want to play in the next two years. Who are the guys that can do that role for us, that’s the question we need to find answers for. And there are lot of guys, there are lot of players who are doing really well in our domestic cricket as well,” Rohit was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference.

Australia became the first team to win all of the major cricket competitions after winning the WTC final. During the first innings of the final, Travis Head struck 163 runs off just 174 balls, including 25 fours and a six, for which he received the Player of the Match award.
