Big update on Mark Wood’s replacement, Lucknow enquires about availability of this pacer
According to the reports, Bangladesh speedster Taskin Ahmed is set to join the Lucknow team. Ahmed will join as the replacement for injured Mark Wood, who has been ruled out of the entire season. Wood sustained an elbow injury during the first Test between England and the West Indies.
On the other hand, Ahmed is yet to play a game in the Indian T20 League. Talking about his T20I numbers, the right-arm pacer has played 33 games, picking up 23 wickets, averaging 35.30 at an economy rate of 7.79. Currently, he is participating in the ODI series in South Africa.
Meanwhile, according to KalerKanth, Gautam Gambhir, mentor of the Lucknow franchise, enquired about the availability of the pacer. “I want Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed in the team and that is for the whole season. If he agrees to the offer, Taskin will have to leave for India before the next two Tests against South Africa,” the former Indian opener was quoted as saying.
On the other hand, Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan has said that Taskin might leave in the middle of the series. “Franchise cricket is a reality now. You can’t hold anyone even if you want to. BCB president Nazmul Hasan is also generous in accepting the reality,” a member of the Bangladesh team was quoted as saying by Kaler Kanth.
Taskin led Bangladesh to a memorable win over South Africa in the first ODI. Bangladesh then lost the second game.
