Every Indian fan was sad when Neeraj Chopra declared that he will not be a part of the Commonwealth Games 2022 due to a groin injury. Hence, all eyes were on his comeback as he missed a chance to show his capability in Birmingham. However, he returned to action in the Lausanne Diamond League Meet.
Neeraj Chopra announced his comeback in some style as he won the tournament with a throw of 89.08m. With that win, he ensured his place in the Diamon League finals. He even became the first Indian to win a Diamond League event. Hence, on 8 September 2022, Neeraj Chopra stepped out to compete in the Diamond League final.
Neeraj Chopra Won the Diamond Trophy with a throw of 88.44m
Speaking of his performance, Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian to win the Dimond Trophy. He won this prestigious trophy in the finale of the Diamond League series in men’s javelin. India’s golden boy did not disappoint once again with this massive win. He threw 88.44m to finish on the top step of the podium. Meanwhile, Neeraj created history ahead of Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch and Germany’s Julian Webber.
However, Neeraj started the final with a foul throw in his first attempt. Then, he threw 88.44m in his second attempt. But, he showed some consistency with his remaining throws. In the next three attempts, he threw 88.00m, 86.11m, and 87.00m respectively. But, his third attempt was enough to bag another triumph in his career. Now, with this win, he has completed the full set. In his career so far, Neeraj has won the Olympic Gold in 2021, the Asian Games Gold in 2018, the Commonwealth Games Gold in 2018, and the World Athletics Championships silver in 2022. Earlier, Neeraj Chopra also opened up about the importance to win this tournament for his country.
