Bowlers and Smriti Mandhana star in RCB’s colossal win against Gujarat Giants women

RCB women overcame the challenge of Gujarat Giants with relative ease. The home side won the match by eight wickets with a whopping 45 balls to spare. With two wins in the two games, the RCB women have climbed to the top spot in the points table. A brilliant bowling performance and a convincing run chase from the batters ensured a great win for RCB women.

Smriti Mandhana won the toss and elected to bowl first. Her decision was proven right, as the bowlers were right on the money from the first ball. Renuka Singh Thakur was brilliant with the new ball and got the ball to swing both ways. She bowled a peach to get rid of Beth Mooney. Her spell with the new ball was assisted by other bowlers.

Sophie Devine, Asha Sobhana, and George Wareham were miserly with the ball. While Thakur was the pick of the bowlers with her spell of 2/14, Sophie Molineux was good too. The talented spinner claimed 3/25 in her four overs. The batters from Gujarat Giants lacked intent. Their innings seemed to go nowhere till the death overs. Some Kate flourish from Hemalatha and Sneh Rana propelled them to a score of 107 runs.

RCB chased down the target with 45 balls to spare

108 was not a tough ask on that wicket. Dew made bowling a lot more difficult. The batters of RCB enjoyed batting in the middle. Smriti led from the front and killed the game right in the PP overs. The star batter batted aggressively and took the attack on the opposition. Her knock helped RCB to dominate Gujarat Giants while chasing the target.

The star batter scored 43(27) before perishing. Ashleigh Gardner seemed to be the only bowler who troubled the RCB batter a bit. Others were smashed for fun. A low score did not help the bowlers. S Meghana and Ellyse Perry guided RCB to a win by wasting no time to finish things. While Meghana scored 36*(28), Perry scored an unbeaten 23*(14). RCB women now have good momentum in the league.
