Former New Zealand skipper, Brendon McCullum has been the head coach of the England Test team since May last year. Under him, the Three Lions has had a remarkable in the longest format of the game. In 2021, they hardly won games and lost a Test series to the West Indies in March last year. After a remarkably bad year and a half, former head coach, Chris Silverwood was sacked and replaced by McCullum.

During the latter’s coaching, the Ben Stokes-led side has lost only one Test, against South Africa. In the recently-concluded three-match series in Pakistan, the team clean sweep the home team. Meanwhile, ahead of the last Test, Brendon, and England boys were practicing six-hitting which became the talk of the town. During the session, Stokes failed to connect the ball.

What followed was the left-hander throwing his bat and feeling embarrassed a few seconds later. After this, the former New Zealand skipper showed his pupil how it’s done. The latter picked the bat and rolled back the time as he hit sixes in his signature style.

Talking about the team, they have finished their World Test Championship 2021-23 campaign on a high. After managing only one win in the series against India, Australia, and the West Indies combined, the team was pretty much ruled out of the finals race. However, post-McCullum’s induction, the team started playing a different brand of cricket and lost only one game in the series against New Zealand, South Africa, and Pakistan combined.

Now, the team will play their next Test series against the Kiwis in New Zealand next month. The series will consist of two games and won’t be part of the ongoing WTC cycle.
