 Cricket Australia announces 14 Man Squad for T20i series against India; Names Matthew Wade as Captain

Cricket Australia has released their 14 man squad for the T20 series of Australia’s tour of India, which will be conducted after the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023. Australia’s tour of India was held in two parts as the team first played a three match mini ODI series against India followed by the ODI World Cup and then the match T20 series. 

Cricket Australia announced the squad in a press release and declared Matthew Wade as the captain for the series, while resting the team’s key players Cameron Green, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.  The T20I series will be conducted for preparations ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. 

“The National Selection Panel (NSP) has named the following 15-player men’s squad for the Qantas T20 Tour of India in November/December. Australia plays five T20 Internationals against India following the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Matthew Wade will captain the side for the series. David Warner and Steve Smith join the squad having missed the South African series. Ashton Agar was not considered due to injury,” read the Press release by Cricket Australia. 

“Multi-format all-rounders Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh will return home following the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup along with fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood to prepare for the Test summer, which starts in Perth eleven days after the final T20 match in India,” added the release.

First T20I: November 23, 7 PM, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ADA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam

Second T20I: November 26, 7 PM, Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram

Third T20I: November 28, 7 PM, Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati

Fourth T20I: December 1, 7 PM, Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur

Fifth T20I: December 3, 7 PM, Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad
