Dates Of Player Auction For Pro Kabaddi League’s Season 9 Are Announced
Mashal sports, the official organizers of PKL, announced that the Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 Player Auction will happen on August 5 – 6, 2022 in Mumbai. Four different categories (A, B, C, and D) will contain all domestic, overseas, and new young players in this auction.
Players will be sub-divided as ‘All-Rounders’, ‘Defenders’, and ‘Raiders’ within each category. The base prices for each of the categories are Category A – INR 30 Lakhs, Category B – INR 20 Lakhs, Category C – INR 10 Lakhs, and Category D – INR 6 Lakhs. For this season, each franchise will have an available purse of INR 4.4 crores.
PKL Teams have the right to retain players from the previous season
As per the league policies, each team has the right to retain players from last season. Franchises can retain six players under the Elite Retained Players category while they can retain four new young players under stipulated conditions. However, these players will not be part of the auction. More than 500 players will go under the hammer during the two-day auction process in Mumbai.
Speaking about the upcoming auction, The Head of Adani Sportsline, Satyam Trivedi expressed his excitement. He said: It’s absolutely fantastic to hear about the Pro Kabaddi League Player Auctions. After a successful season 8, all the players are eagerly waiting to step on the mat once again. I am sure that Mashal Sports will definitely organize outstanding Player Auctions. We at Gujarat Giants are looking forward to some exciting bids. We are building a strong squad for the upcoming Season 9.”
On the other hand, the CEO of the Mumbai franchise, Supratik Sen said: “The Pro Kabaddi Player Auction is a celebration of Kabaddi players across the world. Some of our kabaddi players have caught the attention of fans throughout eight seasons. They are ready to up the ante in Season 9. Numerous talented players have emerged over the years. I look forward to seeing some new talents being given opportunities in this Player Auction.”
