Devon Conway ruled out of 4th T20I vs. Pakistan as he tests positive for Covid-19

Conway misses out!

New Zealand’s star opener, Devon Conway has been ruled out of the 4th T20I against Pakistan. The reason behind his exclusion is Covid-19. After the third T2oI, Conway tested positive for Covid-19 and thus has to miss the fourth T20I. The match is played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. New Zealand are leading the five-match series, 3-0.

The third T20I between both the teams was an interesting match as New Zealand’s Finn Allen played an unbelievable century which helped the team reach a massive target of 224 runs. Allen’s 137 runs innings were full of sixes rather than boundaries. In total, he scored 16 sixes and five boundaries. He did set the tone of the series in a true sense.

However, the visiting team, Pakistan, did give the hosts a tough competition as they went on to lose the match just by 45 runs. On one side the former Captain, Babar Azam scored 58 runs off 37 balls, while the others couldn’t extend their support. Thus, they ended up being the losing side. Nonetheless, Babar’s comeback might have brought some relief to the Pakistan crowd.

Chad Bowes replaces Conway

Chad Bowes replaces Devon Conway in the New Zealand squad for the last two T20Is. Conway is not the only one who has tested positive for Covid-19. Bowling coach Andre Adams is also under isolation as he has tested positive too. Bowes has played 11 T20I matches for New Zealand and has scored 187 runs including a fifty.

Conway was having an off-series as he scored 27 runs in three matches. Overall, in 44 T20Is, he has scored 1,275 runs including nine half-centuries at a strike rate of 128.66. Earlier, Mitchell Santner also tested positive for Covid-19 and was excluded from the first T20I. Since the Kiwis have already won the series, they might look to rotate the team and give the youngsters a chance to prove their worth.
