Dhanjaya de Silva replaces star opening batter, becomes Sri Lanka’s Test Captain

The Sri Lankan Cricket Board and team management have recently come across a massive revelation as they have announced a new test captain for the team while naming Dhananjaya De Silva, who has presently replaced Karunaratne. Karunaratne had previously captained the side for 30 Test matches out of which he won 12 games, and had lost 12 matches by ending six as a draw.

Dhananjaya De Silva has become the 18th Test captain for Sri Lanka and is expected to lead the Test side in Sri Lanka’s tour of England and the only Test match against Afghanistan. For the first time, Sri Lanka has named different captains for all three formats as the new team management named Kusal Mendis as the ODI captain and Wanidu Hasaranga as the T20I Captain.

“I would have preferred to have the same captain for all three formats. But we are unable to do that at the moment with the players we have,” said Sri Lanka Chief Selector Upul Tharanga.
