ECB Announces the venues for the upcoming international series in England, The Ageas Bowl set to host first ever Ashes in 2027
After months of demand, ECB is set to host Men’s Ashes Test at Ageas Bowl in 2027. The England Cricket Board has announced the venues for the upcoming international events on English soil. The Ageas Bowl, which will host its first Women’s Ashes ODI on July 16, will also host its first Women’s Ashes Test in 2031, with Headingley hosting the 2027 edition.
England Men will play Australia in Tests at Lord’s, The Kia Oval, Edgbaston, Trent Bridge, and The Ageas Bowl in 2027. They will play five Tests in 2031 at Lord’s, The Kia Oval, Emirates Old Trafford, Headingley, and Trent Bridge. Rod Bransgrove, the chairman of Hampshire welcomed the decision and said that the allocation will be game- changer for the local cricket and The Ageas Bowl.
“The Ashes fixture in 2027 will be a historic moment for Hampshire Cricket, the Ageas Bowl and for cricket in general as England and Australia engage in a Test Match for the first time at our bespoke venue,” Bransgrove said. “It represents the realisation of a long-held ambition; a dream come true.
“For all our dedicated staff, both past and present, the allocation of this match, the women’s Ashes Test in 2031, and the broader international and Test match programme over these seven years represents full recognition of their amazing commitment and dedication over the past two decades”, he further added.
India will tour England in 2025 and 2029 for five-match Test series
England Cricket Board also announced the venues for the series against the Indian team. India will be travelling to the UK for five-match Test series in 2025 and 2029. In 2025 India will play their games at Lord’s, The Kia Oval, Edgbaston, Headingley and Emirates Old Trafford. In 2029 team will head to Lord’s, The Kia Oval, Edgbaston, Emirates Old Trafford and The Ageas Bowl for a five-match series.
Notably, in their last England tour India drew the series by 2-2 after leading it by 2-1 in 2018. India skipper Rohit Sharma was the leading run-getter for the Indian team as he hammered his first overseas Test century at the Kia Oval in 2018. Recently India faced Australia at the Kia Oval in the finals of the World Test Championship 2021-23 which they lost by 209 runs.
