‘Ek aur one sided battle’- Fans react as UP Warriorz beat Gujarat Giants by 6 wickets in WPL 2024

The Women’s Premier League(WPL) 2024 is almost finished halfway. There is only one team so far that has failed to get points on the board, while the other teams are still looking to come back. Today was match number 8 which was played between the UP Warriorz and the Gujarat Giants. It was the Warriorz who won the toss and elected to field first. Despite a solid start from the openers, everything still went downhill for the Giants. The quickfire knocks of Phoebe Litchfield and Ashleigh Gardner were the only highlights of the game. The Gujarat Giants managed only 142 on a high-scoring Bangalore wicket.

The Warriorz never looked out of the game against this Gujarat Giants attack. Apart from some early wickets in the middle, everything was going according to plan for them. In the end, it was an easy chase for the Warriorz where they chased down the total with 28 balls to spare. This was the second win for the Warriorz which has given them a push up the points table. After winning 2 games in a row, it looks like they are finally making a comeback into the tournament.

Grace Harris masterclass

The player of the moment for the  UP Warriorz was Grace Harris. The powerful Aussie batter showcased a wonderful T20 innings. Harris went on to score 60 of just 33 deliveries and formed important partnerships with Healy and Deepti Sharma to keep her side in the game. Harris was at her best, where she made use of any width on offer and attacked every delivery she got in the slot. Harris’ innings consisted of 9 fours and 2 sixes and remained unbeaten the whole game.

This will give the Warriorz a lot of confidence going forward. This makes the league even more interesting where 4 out of 5 teams are still looking good to enter the top three. The Warriorz will play a good-looking Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) next match and will look to maintain this dominating performance. This is looking like a much more different side than we saw in the first two games they played and they look like they have plenty more to give us.
