The 3rd Test match between India and England is set to start on February 15, in Rajkot. Before the match started, England’s Ian Chappell applauded Ben Stokes for his amazing captaincy. He is happy with the captain’s aggressive approach toward the game and how he maintains the team and the environment. The way how England made a comeback in the first Test match showed their mental strength and ability to bounce back from any given situation.

Chappell wrote in his ESPNCricinfo column, “As the home side India should eventually win a tough series, but it has a real battle on their hands. England under the aggressive leadership of Stokes is a far cry from the poorly captained Joe Root team that capitulated against spin on their last tour of the country.”

Moreover, in the Test series against India in 2021, England won the first match of the series. However, he went on to lose the series. At that time, Joe Root was leading the team. Currently, the series is at a tie at 1-1. From the third Test, the intensity of the match will increase and the players will look forward to improving their performance as well.

‘India is a strong side and they also have a good leader in Rohit Sharma’ – Ian Chappell glorified Rohit Sharma’s captaincy

Not only Ben Stokes, but Ian Chappell also praised Rohit Sharma for his captaincy skills. The way Rohit managed to win the 2nd Test without the presence of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja, Chappell is quite impressed with the Indian captain. However, both the countries are missing Kohli’s presence in the series and he used to bring an all-round approach to the series.

Chappell said, “India is a strong side and they also have a good leader in Rohit Sharma. They will be greatly strengthened by Ravindra Jadeja’s and KL Rahul’s recovery from injury, but that Virat Kohli will not return for the rest of the series is a blow.”
