Mohali police detained a fan for allegedly holding a T-shirt that says ‘Free Sikh Prisoners’ during the Indian T20 League match between Punjab and Kolkata on Saturday. Hardeep Singh was detained along with seven others and were released by the police on the same day as quoted in Hindustan Times.

Hardeep was released on 7:30 PM on Saturday by the district police without pressing any charges, says Balwinder Singh, spokesperson of ‘Quami Insaaf Morcha.’ QIM is a sit-in agitation started by Sikh groups to demand the release of Sikh prisoners in jail.

Security concerns have been raised at the Mohali Cricket Stadium after the incident despite a three-tier system being arranged. Mohali police commissioner, Harpreet Singh Sidhu, earlier, said that a probe will be initiated into the matter and a review of the security system would be conducted to avoid the occurrences of such incidents.

Last week, the concerns were raised by the Punjab and Haryana high courts over frequent road blockades by QIM protesters where they stated that blocking the road was not a solution. However, the OIM said that the protest will not end until the prisoners, lodged in different jails despite the completion of their sentences, were freed.
