Fans sweep Twitter with heartwarming posts for Virat Kohli
India’s 20-20 World Cup campaign ended on a positive note with the team registering a win over Namibia. It was an emotional game for the team as it was skipper Virat Kohli’s last game as T20I captain. Kohli had earlier announced that he will step down from his post in T20Is after the 20-20 World Cup citing workload management.
The team registered a comprehensive win and gave their skipper a fitting farewell. Despite Kohli failing to lead India to a 20-20 World Cup win, he can hold his head high given the tremendous success the team achieved under his leadership. Overall, Kohli led India in 50 T20Is, winning 30 of those games at an astounding win percentage of 63. Also, Kohli led India to T20I series wins in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia – the only Asian skipper to do so.
The passionate fans were emotional and paid their tribute to Kohli on Twitter.
