Ali Bacher is a former South African Cricketer and captain who represented his country between 1965 and 1970. He played in 12 Test matches during this time and scored close to 700 runs at an average of 32.3.
The South Africans won all four Test matches at home against Australia in 1969–70 when he served as captain of the team. He was chosen to lead the touring teams to England in 1970 and Australia in 1971–1972, but due to anti-apartheid protests in the host nations, neither tour took place.
