Former England player feels that T20 Blast is better than Indian T20 League
The Indian T20 League is arguably one of the biggest T20 leagues in the world. Besides, several pundits and experts regard it to be the toughest T20 tournament as well. Moreover, it has never failed to entertain the fans.
Serval fans desperately wait for the cash-rich league to commence every year. Besides, it has acted as a platform for several talented youngsters to showcase their talent. However, David Lloyd still feels that it isn’t really the best T20 league in the world. He went on to make a bold claim about the cash-rich league.
It is to be noted that the former England player has been a part of the Indian T20 League’s broadcasting team in the past. Lloyd stated that the cash-rich league benefits the people who are already wealthy. He felt that the T20 Blast was better.
“I have worked on the Indian T20 League, but it is a private enterprise and benefiting already wealthy people. The T20 Blast is for the people and bringing money into the game. That’s a major factor for me in saying it is the best. The Indian T20 League fits an Indian audience because the players are Gods out there, but it is deadly serious,” Lloyd said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Further on, he went on to say that the T20 Blast is the biggest T20 tournament in the world. He gave longevity as a reason for the same. However, Lloyd won’t be a part of the commentary team this time around as his commentary career came to an end earlier in December 2021.
“I think the Blast is the best T20 competition in the world – not for its quality necessarily, but for its longevity, the joy that it brings to spectators in the UK culminating in one of the greatest days in the cricket calendar,” he added. As for the ongoing Indian T20 League, the tournament has approached its business end. The four teams to make it to the playoffs are Gujarat, Rajasthan, Lucknow and Bangalore.
