According to Diario AS, superstar Karim Benzema of Real Madrid is close to quitting the club. The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner is supposedly on the verge of signing with a Saudi Pro League team after allegedly receiving a €400 million two-year deal from an undisclosed club. Since the summer of 2009, Benzema has worked with Los Blancos as a player.

The Frenchman has accomplished everything at the club, making 795 appearances over the course of 14 seasons while tallying 419 goals and 192 assists. The France international has also won 24 significant prizes at Real Madrid, including five UEFA Champions League medals and four La Liga championships. Additionally, he has forged dangerous alliances with Gareth Bale, and Cristiano Ronaldo in the past,  as well as with Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. in the present time.

“Karim Benzema: close to leaving Real Madrid. A Saudi Arabia club is offering him €400m for 2 years and he’ll have the opportunity to become an Ambassador of the 2030 World Cup,” Madrid Xtra posted a statement on Twitter with Diario AS as the source.

Will Roberto Firmino join Real Madrid?

The forward is not the first winner of the Ballon d’Or to play in the Saudi Pro League. In January, Cristiano Ronaldo signed a two-and-a-half-year contract to join Al-Nassr. Karim Benzema scored 30 goals in 42 games this season, demonstrating that he is still capable of playing at the greatest level. If he decides to depart, Los Blancos will struggle to find a player of his level to replace him.

Fabrizio Romano, a prominent football journalist, claims that Real Madrid is thinking about bringing in legendary Liverpool player Roberto Firmino this summer. The Brazilian left the Reds as a free agent next month after playing his final game for the team this past weekend. Firmino has been connected to the Saudi Pro League and Barcelona.

“Roberto Firmino, one of the names considered by Real Madrid — there are no negotiations as of now, just internal discussions about Bobby,” Romano tweeted on Sunday, May 28.
