Gamers demanding ability/gameplay nerfs in “The Finals”
A new potential esports title “The Finals” dropped last year in December and became a huge hit among players due to its unique and fast-paced gameplay mechanics. The game currently holds over 80,000 players on Steam alone.
The game features a class-based team system namely, Light, Medium and Heavy, but there are no restrictions and players can pick any class they want for team composition. This can sometimes result in a chaotic win or a quick loss.
While players do not have any complaints about the concept of the game, many are criticizing a few aspects that they believe can give an advantage to players and should either be removed or nerfed (toned down).
Amidst the ongoing debate, there are a few concerns that seem to have the community divided, these include –
The cloak ability for “Light”
Just like you run from a Titan with a shotgun running at you in Destiny, a similar case is happening with “Light” in “The Finals” but this time you can’t even run. Light players do not have much health, however, they make up with their speed and the most popular ability of cloaking which makes them invisible.
Players are debating that it is almost impossible to see and in a fast-paced game, it truly becomes impossible. However, others are debating that the ability is supposed to make you invisible, and it’s not completely foolproof as taking damage or doing damage makes the player visible.
Aim assist for controllers
Aim assist is not something new and is usually available to controller players to make up for the flexibility of mouse and keyboard (MnK) players. Despite that, the debate is a long-running one and has made its way into The Finals.
Multiple users have displayed how busted aim assist is for controller players, especially in long-range weapons. Others have countered the points, saying controllers have a lot of disadvantages during a close gunfight between multiple teams as turning the camera is very slow, and the aim assist only helps during medium and long-range fights with a single team.
While players can argue all they want, the ultimate change can only be made by the developers. Maybe they’ll remove aim snapping, maybe an overall nerf. All players can do is wait.
