Glenn Maxwell files FIR for stolen shoes, gets to know it’s a ritual
Glenn Maxwell will be seen playing for Bangalore in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. This is after the Australian all-rounder performed brilliantly for the franchise last season and they decided to retain him for INR 11 Cr, ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022 mega auction.
In the 14th edition, Maxwell played 15 games for Bangalore. In these matches, he scored 513 runs for them at an average of 42.75 and an impressive strike rate of 144.10.
This year ,Maxwell will be coming into the tournament with added responsibilities, both on and off the field. The Bangalore middle order’s mainstay AB de Villiers has retired from the Indian T20 League. So, the franchise will be looking up at Maxwell to fill the shoes of the South African. On the personal front, Maxwell tied the knots with his long-time Indian-origin girlfriend Vini Raman on March 18.
Maxwell had married his girlfriend in the traditional Christian style earlier. Now the couple will get married as per the Indian traditions. The events of the marriage as per Tamil customs will take place on the 27th of March. Due to this, The Australian all-rounder will miss the first two games for the franchise, as per reports from ESPNCricinfo.
In the Indian marriage ceremonials, there is a tradition of hiding the groom’s shoes. As per the tradition, the same was done during Maxwell’s marriage. But the cricketer had no idea about this and he went on to file an FIR for the same.
However, there is no confirmation if the reports are true or mere rumours. The information was given in a meme which stated –“Glenn Maxwell has lodged a complaint with the police for losing his wedding shoes but was later notified that it’s a tradition.”
