The Indian T20 League 2022 culminated with the debutants, Gujarat winning the title under their captain Hardik Pandya. Hardik himself has been brilliant throughout the tournament. He displayed excellence in all the departments of the game.

He was one of the top run-scorers of the tournament. Pandya scored 487 runs in the tournament at an average of 44.27 from 15 matches. He was also doing a decent job with the ball in the tournament.

Hardik cherried off his performance with an all-round show in the summit clash of the tournament. He picked up the important wickets of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Shimron Hetmyer in the match. Then he went on to score 34 runs off 39 balls during a crunch situation in the match. His innings took Gujarat to a pretty comfortable victory in the match and thus they lifted their maiden Indian T20 League trophy in their debut season.

The skipper of the Gujarat team took to his Instagram handle to share the images of a gift from the entrepreneur Veera Pahariya. The gift was a couple of customized Gujarat pendants. He captioned the post – “Thank you @veerapahariya6 brother loved it so much.”

Notably, Hardik was roped in by Gujarat as one of the draft players ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. This development took place after his former team Mumbai released him ahead of the tournament. With Hardik displaying cricketing brilliance on the field, Mumbai must have missed his services as they finished at the bottom of the table.

The bowling coach of the Mumbai team spoke about Hardik’s excellent display in the tournament. During a conversation with Sportskeeda, Bond said – “Hardik is a pretty cool captain. He came to the IPL to Mumbai in my first season, so we spent a lot of time together. It was probably a foreign role for him to step up as a leader for a different franchise, but he did a great job. From my perspective, I miss him. It would have been nice to have him around on our team because he is a quality player. India needs him too for the World Cup because he showed what a quality player he is and also what a good leader he is.”
