‘He had printed false information’ – Brian Gewirtz disagrees with claims of superstar not getting in shape in time for WWE WrestleMania 39

As a former head writer for WWE, Brian Gewirtz is well-versed in writing about professional wrestling, yet he absolutely despises one part of journalism. Gewirtz appeared as a guest on “The Bill Simmons Podcast” to discuss a range of subjects relating to his previous line of work.

Gewirtz and The Rock get along well, and he serves as executive producer for Seven Bucks Productions. As speculations regarding The Rock’s participation in WrestleMania 39 started circulating, he opened up a news article by professional wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer.

“A week after [Meltzer] admittedly had to retract something that he had printed false information, and he was upfront and admitted it, but then the next week a ‘source’ tells him, ‘Well, The Rock’s not going to make it to WrestleMania because he feels he doesn’t have enough time to get into match shape.’ Well, I know that is in and of itself not the case. That is not the reason whether it happens or doesn’t happen,” Gewirtz clarified.

Brock Lesnar to square off against Omos in WrestleMania 39

That rumour took a life of its own, where even Roman Reigns went on “The Tonight Show” to say that The Rock stated he wasn’t ring-ready. “That’s the stuff that just drives me nuts and always has,” he added.

If one were to evaluate the matches on the Road to WrestleMania, especially those involving Reigns and The Bloodline, it would seem like The Rock won’t participate in any of them. In addition, he isn’t depicted on the WrestleMania poster for this year.

Talking of other significant updates of the WrestleMania 39, Nigerian wrestler Omos and Brock Lesnar will square off. It will be a match between two titans of the wrestling business, and when Lesnar and Omos faced off on WWE RAW this week, it was obvious that Omos’ enormous girth overshadowed Lesnar.

“Brock Lesnar, you are a brilliant athlete but a terrible tactician. You made a critical error putting your hands on me last week or two weeks ago. But the worst, the biggest mistake you’ve ever made in your career, was accepting a match against the 7’3 inch, 416-pound Nigerian giant Omos at WrestleMania,” said MVP, the manager of Omos.
