‘He was was one of the best…’ – Shahid Afridi praises Gautam Gambhir for his impeccable timing of cricket ball

Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi recently appreciated former India opener Gautam Gambhir in the Momin Saqib’s show. He complimented Gambhir for his batting technique. Momin also asked him about provoking the batter on the field. “He was a different type of a character. Even he had that kind of reputation in the Indian team. Let’s talk positively about the show. Gambhir was among the few India openers who were the best timers of the ball. He was very talented,” Afridi was quoted as saying on the show.

“I don’t have any fight as such with any Indian player. Gautam (Gambhir) and I have clashed on social media sometimes. I would say that Gautam is such a character that even the Indian players don’t like him. My overall experience of playing against India has been great,” Afridi added.

The Legends League Cricket (LLC) brought two former cricketers together back on the field against each other in the tournament. During one of the matches, Gambhir was hit on the helmet by former Pakistan all-rounder, Abdul Razzaq. Afridi who was leading Asian Lions at that time, went to Gambhir and asked him whether he is alright or not. The handshake between the two players went viral on social media.

“We are both ambassadors of our respective countries. If you live in the past, you won’t be able to live. We are enjoying in our present. He is leading his team and is in good form, he is playing beautifully and it’s fun watching him bat. I have spent two to three days with him and it has been amazing. Be it Sachin Tendulkar or MS Dhoni, from Pakistan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. These are big names and people want to see them,” said the retired Pakistan all-rounder during his recent interview with TV presenter and sports anchor Yashika Gupta.
