The highly anticipated Ashes series came to a tame end today, January 16 as Australia dismantled the visitors by 146 runs, winning the series 4-1. The series was a one team show with Australia humiliating England. The series was very unlike Ashes, where the tempers are always flaring between the players. Several former cricketers had stated that Ashes does not look like Ashes given the bonding between the Australia and England players.

Anyways, England had a chance to end the series on a high when they bowled out Australia for 155, needing 271 to win the Test. However, Australian bowlers were too hot to handle for England as they stumbled to a 146 run defeat after being bowled out for 124.

Every series is very important in context to the Test championship. Here’s a look at how the Test championship table looks after the Ashes.

Both England and Australia have retained their respective positions in the table. Australia are placed second with 52 points and a win percentage of 86.67, while England are tottering at ninth with a win percentage of 9.25.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s 2-1 win over India have pushed them to fourth in the points table, one place above India. Sri Lanka tops the table with a win percentage of 100.
