Mitchell Marsh grabbed attention with his performance in the 2021 20-0 World Cup. This led to the Delhi franchise buying him for INR 6.50 Cr in the mega auction ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022. In what comes as a piece of breaking news, Mitchell Marsh has suffered an injury. He has suffered a hip-flex injury ahead of the limited-overs series against Pakistan. Australia’s limited-overs captain Aaron Finch confirmed that the all-rounder will miss the series against Pakistan.

“Mitch Marsh is off for a scan; he injured his hip flexor yesterday at training. I don’t think he will be available for this series based on how he was feeling yesterday,” Finch said.

Australia will be facing off against Pakistan in the first match of the ODI series at Gaddafi stadium in Lahore on 29th March 2022. Notably, after winning the Test series against Pakistan, Australia decided to rest some of their players like David Warner, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Steve Smith and Josh Hazlewood.

According to experts, if the injury is a major one, then it may take up to six weeks for Marsh to recover. This would mean that Marsh will not be available for the majority of the tournament. Delhi will be keeping a close eye on the development.

The unavailability of overseas options has already troubled Delhi. They were just able to field two overseas players in the first match of the Indian T20 League, against Mumbai. If Marsh’s unavailability is confirmed, it would be a huge blow for the franchise.
