Ahead of the fifth Ashes Test 2023 against England at The Oval, star Australia opener, David Warner has given a big statement on Bazball, a term given to England’s attacking playing style in Test which came into light under the leadership of coach, Brendon McCullum, and captain, Ben Stokes. Australia have regained the Ashes as they are currently leading the five-match Test series 2-1.

While talking to the press ahead of the final Test, the left-hand batter opined about England’s Bazball approach and that he is yet to witness this from the hosts in the ongoing series. “I haven’t really seen Bazball yet, to be honest. They are playing the way they have been playing and I haven’t really seen much of it from them” Warner was quoted as saying to Cricket Australia’s official website.

Warner was also asked about his retirement rumours, to which he laughed and stated that he is not aware of any rumours as he had been on the golf course. “No, I haven’t heard anything actually. I haven’t seen anything. I’ve been on the golf course. No, I don’t have an announcement. For me, it’s about trying to work hard in the nets, as I did today. Potentially come out tomorrow and, if selected, go out there and play and try and win an Ashes series,” the 37-year-old.

In the last, Warner was asked about his successor in Test cricket, to which he gave the name of left-hand batter, Matt Renshaw. Renshaw was released from the Ashes squad earlier this month. He also compared him to Australia legend, Mathew Hayden by saying that he’s tall, he’s exactly like Hayden.

“The hardest thing moving forward is we’ve always had players that have come and played both forms, (and) in all three forms now, so are (selectors) going to be inclined to pick someone like that? Matt Renshaw is a very good player. He can play both formats quite easily. He’s tall, he’s exactly like Haydos” Warner concluded.
