‘I think he should discuss what is his job as a professional’ – Wasim Akram blasts at Mickey Arthur over his recent comments on India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup match

Pakistan’s former fast bowler openly expressed his disapproval over Pakistan team’s head coach Mickey Arthur’s recent marks on the Indian cricket board regarding India versus Pakistan’s high intensity match. India easy victory against Pakistan by seven wickets as the Pakistan’s squad showed a poor performance in the game.

Arthur labelled the IND vs PAK clash to be an Indian cricket board event and not the apex cricket Council event since he couldn’t hear the Pakistan’s familiar anthems over the microphones, and the stadium was flooded in the blue jersey in the support of the host nation. Wasim Akram openly criticised Arthur’s statement and said he didn’t discuss the relevant details that he should have in the conference as a head coach.

Wasim Akram on Mickey Arthur’s recent remarks on the Indian Cricket Board

“Bhaiya hame ye batao aap logo ne kya plan kiya tha? (Brother, tell me what was the plan?) Kuldeep Yadav ko kaese khelna hai? (How did you prepare to play Kuldeep Yadav?) That’s what we want to hear. Not this random stuff. You think you can get away with this. No, you can’t, unfortunately,” said Wasim Akram.

“(He) diverting attention. A lot of people are disheartened and you’re making them emotional. I think he should discuss what is his job as a professional rather than showing a new path. As a coach, he shouldn’t have said that. We should praise them (BCCI or making the most of the home crowd). Hamare yahan event ho so ham bhi isi tarah utilize karen. (If we host such events, we should also utilize them). We should learn from them”, added Akram.

Mickey Arthur in a recent statement said, “Look, I’d be lying if I said it did [not affect us]. It didn’t seem like an ICC event to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn’t hear Dil Dil Pakistan coming through the microphones too often tonight.”

“Naturally that [a sea of blue] was going to be the case. We are really sad that our supporters aren’t here. They would love to be here and I am sure Indian cricket fans would love our supporters here as well. It was certainly unusual in that way, no familiar music for us today. So it did not feel like a World Cup game, honestly. We didn’t expect anything else. [But] we love the occasion and we are disappointed that we did not do justice to the occasion or justice to our many fans at home and globally”, he added.
