David Warner is playing his last test series against Pakistan. The veteran batter has been one of the finest openers of this generation. Warner’s test form has been up and down. But in the current ongoing series, he scored a brilliant hundred in the first test match. The Aussies are finding a replacement for the batter and might have found the perfect replacement as well.

Marcus Harris who has been in fine form and putting in extra effort to take the spot of Australia’s star opener in the Test team after the left-handed decided to retire from the game’s longest format. On the second day of Pakistan against Victoria XI’s warm-up match at Junction Oval, he scored a hundred. He scored 126 off just 131 balls, hitting 22 fours and a six.

Cricket Australia selectors are in a position to name a new opener early next month. Cameron Bancroft and Matt Renshaw are also in contention to replace the Southpaw. Alex Carey also believes that there is a problem in the team as to who is going to replace the batter.

I think Cam’s skillful enough to play in any position for his country: Alex Carey

Alex Carey was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo, “I think Cam’s skillful enough to play in any position for his country. Again, probably like the Cameron and Mitch [Marsh] situation, it’s a great headache for Australian cricket to have. There are so many amazing players around the country who are scoring runs. We’ve got a lot of great players around this group who could easily fit into the top six anywhere. We’ve still got a couple more games of Davey if it is the end of Davey. To celebrate that is probably what I’m more keen on, to celebrate an amazing cricketer in Davey, rather than get too hung up over who will fill his shoes.”

Marcus Harris after the century said, “I feel like I’ve had seven or eight years of good cricket. Probably ever since I’ve moved to Victoria, feel like I’ve proven myself enough, especially in domestic cricket, whether or not in international cricket that’s up for debate and other people’s opinion. In my last couple of Tests felt I was just getting going then things out of my control didn’t go my way, but that’s okay. I’ve been in this position the last few years, so if it comes down to one game then so be it.”
