‘If Umran Malik was in Pakistan then…’- Kamran Akmal makes big statement on Umran Malik
Pakistan cricketer, Kamran Akmal recently stated that if Umran Malik was from Pakistan, he would have playing International cricket by now. Umran Malik is a 22-year old Indian cricketer, who has been making heads turns with his searing pace in the ongoing edition of the Indian T20 League.
He first made headlines after making his debut for Hyderabad in the last edition of the cash-rich tournament. Umran Malik impressed one and all with his raw pace and bounce, and, thus the franchise opted to retain him for the ongoing edition of the tournament.
Turning up for them, he is currently the second highest wicket-taker for the franchise. In 11 matches, he has managed to pick 15 wickets. Malik has consistently bowled at 150 clicks and holds the record for the fastest delivery bowled in the ongoing season. There is no denying that he is a rare talent and he might soon receive a call-up for the Indian team ahead of the upcoming assignments.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter, Kamran Akmal reckons that if Umran Akmal was from Pakistan, he would have already played international cricket.
“If he was in Pakistan, maybe he would have played international cricket. His economy is high, but he is a strike bowler since he is getting wickets. After every match, his speed chart comes where he clocks around 155 km/h and it’s not going down. It’s a good competition in the Indian team,” Akmal was quoted as saying to Paktv.tv.
The 40-year-old Pakistan cricketer also explained that India are currently spoilt for choices and increased competition in the fast bowling department isn’t helping Umran Khan to be fast-tracked into the Indian Team.
“Earlier, Indian cricket lacked quality fast bowlers, but now they have a plethora of pacers like Navdeep Saini, (Mohammed) Siraj, (Mohammed) Shami, and (Jasprit) Bumrah. Even Umesh Yadav is bowling beautifully. With 10-12 pacers in the ranks, it’s becoming tough for Indian selectors to make selections,” he added.
