In the ongoing first Test against Australia, wicketkeeper batter KS Bharat and Suryakumar Yadav are making their debuts for India. The former has been a backup keeper for Rishabh Pant over the years. Not to forget, he kept wickets for the team in a Test match against New Zealand in November 2021. Meanwhile, on the other hand, Yadav has been doing well in T20I cricket and has loads of first-class experience

Meanwhile, ahead of the game, former India head coach Ravi Shastri handed out the Test caps for his national side. After getting the cap, Bharat was seen hugging his mother. At the toss, India skipper Rohit Sharma said “We would have batted too. Looks pretty dry. There will be help for spinners. We got to wait and see how much it does,” Rohit said at the toss.

“Yesterday when we started training we did see some seam movement for the pacers up front. We have had a good prep for the last 5-6 days. We trained on the aspects in store. This is a big one. We know the importance of the series but we also understand it’s about winning one session at a time. It’s a long series. Three spinners, two-seamers, Bharat and Suryakumar Yadav are debuting,” he added.

KS Bharat makes an immediate impact in the game

Meanwhile, in the game, the Andhra Pradesh player made an immediate impact in the ongoing game. On the first ball of the second over, Mohammed Siraj and others felt that they might have trapped Usman Khawaja for lbw. However, the umpire turned it down. At this point, Sharma consulted Bharat and went for a review.

In the replays, it was found out that the ball pitched in the line of stumps and was crashing into the leg stump. After watching the hawk-eye, the players started celebrating. At the time of writing, Australia has amassed 50 runs for the loss of two wickets. David Warner could only score one run.
