The second T20I between India and West Indies will provide a great opportunity for some of the youngsters to prove their worth at the highest level of the game. The Indian squad in the series features some of the players who performed well for their respective teams in the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League.

India lost the first match in Trinidad by 4 runs on a slow track. From 113/4 after 15 overs, India could not chase 37 runs in the last 5 overs. In the second T20I in Guyana, India would like to reverse the results. The opening pair of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan struggled to get going in the first T20I. Gill had a spectacular IPL season for Gujarat Titans and Kishan performed well in the ODI series.

The number 3 and number 4 have two batters from Mumbai Indians, who had a sensational season in IPL 2023. Suryakumar Yadav has been a sensation in T20s since 2022. While Yadav did not have a good performance in the first T20I, Tilak Varma shined in his debut match. The 20-year-old would love to continue his good performance.

Emphasis on improvement in finishing and death bowling

The finishing lineup has the likes of Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson, and Axar Patel. All three failed with the bat in the first T20I. Hardik, being a genuine finisher should bat at 6 and allow Sanju Samson to bat at 5, who can score well in the middle overs against spinners. While Axar was not good in the first T20I, he can be trusted to come good in the second T20I.

The bowling was good in the first T20I. Though death overs bowling is a concern, Indian bowlers bowled well in other phases. The spin duo of Chahal and Kuldeep bowled extremely well in the first T20I. Mukesh Kumar was good too. Arshdeep would like to improve his bowling at the death. Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya bowled well as the All-rounders. India might not look to have changes in the second T20I.
