The Indian Cricket Team is currently participating in the Asia Cup 2023. They have qualified for the Super 4 stage of the competition along with Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The Men in Blue will lock horns with arch-rivals, Pakistan in their first match of the Super 4. The match will be played at the R.Premadasa Stadium, in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Sunday, September 10.

There will be a lot of questions about who should bat at number five, keeping in mind that the star India batter, KL Rahul has recovered from his injury and is all set to face the Men in Green. The problem has been raised because the other contender, Ishan Kishan is in exceptional form as he has scored four consecutive half-centuries in the ODIs.

He is Ishan Kishan and hasn’t played a lot of international cricket: Gautam Gambhir

Former India opener, Gautam Gambhir thinks that India should not make the blunder by not selecting Ishan over Rahul in the ODI team.”India will make a huge blunder if they don’t play Ishan Kishan ahead of KL Rahul,” Gambhir was quoted as saying in a chat show on Star Sports.

Gambhir explained his point suggesting the consistency has shown over the last few ODI innings.”The point is, when you’re gearing up to win the World Cup, you don’t see the name, you judge by their form. You choose the player who can perform and win you the World Cup. I feel Ishan Kishan has done everything he needs to do to be a frontrunner,” he explained,” Gambhir asserted.

“Just because he is Ishan Kishan and hasn’t played a lot of international cricket, you’re saying that KL Rahul should play before him. But if Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma were in place of Ishan Kishan, would KL Rahul be able to replace them? The answer is ‘no,” the former left-hand batter concluded.

So far in the Asia Cup 2023, India defeated Nepal by 10 wickets and their match against Pakistan was called off.
