The third match of the Indian T20 league 2022 gifted the fans a run feast. Both the teams enjoyed the great batting conditions.
Bangalore batted first after losing the toss. Faf du Plessis was at his best in the very first match of the season. The fans felt that only the jersey color for him has changed but his form remained the same as last season. He scored 88 runs off 57 deliveries. Virat Kohli united with him at the crease and this was once again a moment of nostalgia for the Bangalore fans. Virat batting with a South African stalwart reminded the fans of the ABD-VK partnership. Virat scored 41 runs off 29 deliveries. With the help of a late flourish by Dinesh Karthik, Bangalore reached a huge total of 205 runs from their 20 overs.
Punjab was solid from the very beginning of their chase. The openers Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan got them off to a flying start. They registered 71 runs for the first wicket in just 7.1 overs. After Mayank left the crease Bhanuka Rajapaksha joined Dhawan and the onslaught continued. Harshal Patel picked up Shikhar Dhawan in the 12th over and the match looked in balance. Dhawan before going back to the pavilion scored 43 runs off 29 deliveries. It was the purple cap winner of last season, Harshal Patel who provided Bangalore with an all-important breakthrough of Dhawan in the 12th over. Dhawan departed scoring 43 runs off 29 deliveries. The match suddenly turned as Mohammed Siraj picked up Rajapaksha and Raj Bawa of two consecutive deliveries in the 14th over. Rajapaksha was dismissed for 43 off 22 deliveries. After this Sharukh Khan and Odean Smith kept faith in themselves a took Punjab to a five wicket victory. Odeam smith scored a brilliant 25 off 8 deliveries.
