Indian T20 League: List of marquee players sold and unsold in Mega Auction
The Indian T20 League mega auction was a big success. The 10 franchises were able to rope in their desired players and will be happy how the things transpired. The first round of the auction consisted of marquee players. All the players had set their base price at INR 2 crores.
The first player sold in the marquee players category was was Shikhar Dhawan. He was bought by Punjab for 8.25 crores. Teams such as Rajasthan and Delhi were bidding for Dhawan alongside Punjab. Ravichandran Ashwin, who was released by Delhi, was sold to Rajasthan for 5 crores. Pat Cummins was bought back by Kolkata at 7.25 crores, which is considered a steal, given he was bought by the same team for 15.50 crores two years back.
Kagiso Rabada joined his Delhi teammate from last year Shikhar Dhawan and was bought for 9.25 crores. Trent Boult will play for Rajasthan this year as he was bought at 8 crores. Former Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer was bought by Kolkata for 12.25 crores and is the only player to be bought at above 10 crores in this category. Mohammad Shami has found a new home in the new entrant Gujarat at a price of 6.25 crores.
Faf Du Plessis will play alongside former Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli this year as he was bought at 7 crores. Quinton De Kock (6.75 crore) will play alongside India’s limited-overs vice-captain KL Rahul in Lucknow. David Warner has returned to the Delhi franchise, from where he started his Indian T20 League journey at a price of 6.25 crores.
