In the Indian Premier League (IPL) final game this season, MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT) will square off for a record-tying fifth championship for CSK in domestic cricket’s largest event. The season finale of the IPL 2023 will take place at the renowned Narendra Modi Stadium between Dhoni and Company and Pandya’s team. The 16th IPL season got underway in Ahmedabad with a convincing victory for GT over CSK in the home opener.

Second-placed CSK exacted revenge on Gujarat for finishing behind them in the league stage by dominating Pandya’s team in the IPL 2023 playoffs at the Chepauk. Additionally, this was CSK’s first victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL. While CSK overcame Pandya’s GT team in the preliminary round to advance to the final match, the defending champions thrashed the five-time champion Mumbai Indians (MI) in the second preliminary round to secure their place in the showdown.

IPL 2023 prize purse accounts for 46.5 crores INR

In the league’s inaugural season, CSK came in second place. The winning team at the time, Rajasthan Royals (RR), received INR 4.8 crore as compensation for winning the IPL. The first two editions’ runners-up each got INR 2 crore. The overall prize pool for all competing teams in the 16th IPL is INR 46.5 crore.

The third-placed Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2023 will receive INR 7 crore. Lucknow Super Giants, who finished fourth, will make INR 6.5 crore this year. Each Purple Cap and Orange Cap winner will receive a cash prize of Rs. 15 lahks. INR 20 crore will be awarded to the IPL champion this season, while INR 13 crore will go to the runners-up.

The Emerging Player of the IPL 2023 will receive a cash award of 20 lakh, while the prize money for the Most Valuable Player of the Season would be 12 lakh. The winners of the Power Player of the Season, Super Striker of the Season, and Game Changer of the Season awards will get cash prizes totaling Rs. 15 lahks. The league stage of the IPL 2023 will offer up to six add-on awards at one lakh each.
