‘It all seems a bit too sloppy’ – Former English batter slams Shreyas Iyer after his careless dismissal in 2nd Test

Kevin Pietersen not happy with Shreyas Iyer.

Kevin Pietersen, former English batter, slams Shreyas Iyer for throwing away his wicket in the 2nd Test match against England in Visakhapatnam. Pietersen directly questioned Iyer’s intent to play for the team as he had failed to score runs for a long time now. In the absence of Virat Kohli, Iyer was given the responsibility of playing at No. 2, which was supposed to be a bigger role, keeping the batting line-up in mind. However, Iyer’s constant failure has raised millions of criticism against him.

Pietersen said, “Listen, when Kohli comes back and other guys come back [KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja] and these are the days these boys are going to look back and go, ‘oh why did I not get a hundred? I had the opportunity to get the hundred’. And when you are sloppy like that, getting out doesn’t impress me at all,” he said. “You got to really grab the game by the scruff of its neck and say I am not letting go here. I am afraid to say with Shreyas it all seems a bit too sloppy. Sloppy is the word.”

Iyer has scored only 27 runs off 59 balls and unnecessarily gave away his wicket to England’s Tom Hartley. His shuffling on the crease was also questioned by Pietersen as it seemed very unnecessary to the legendary batter.

‘Rahul sir and Rohit bhai kept giving me the confidence’ – Yashasvi Jaiswal speaks about Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid

Yashasvi Jaiswal has played an amazing innings in the 2nd Test match against England. On the 1st day, he scored 179 runs off 257 balls including 17 boundaries and 5 sixes. It was a good day for the hosts as they went on to score 336 runs at the loss of six wickets. Moreover, after the match, Jaiswal said he got the utmost support from captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid.

Jaiswal said, “Initially, the wicket was damp and there was spin and bounce, with a bit of seam. The pitch played a bit differently, in the morning it was a bit damp and then it settled. With the older ball, there was some bounce. Rahul sir and Rohit bhai kept giving me the confidence and told me to convert this into a big innings, and stay till the end.”
