‘It is a total lie’: BCB president rubbishes cricketer Tamim Iqbal’s claims
Tamim Iqbal’s aggressive batting has been an asset for Bangladesh at the top of the batting order over the years. He has played a major role in some of the memorable performances from the team over the years. But the batter recently made a big revelation about the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) not being willing to communicate with him on his future in the T20 format.
But the president of the BCB, Nazmul Hasan has rubbished the claims from the batter. He has revealed that the batter has written to the board recently implying that he is not ready for the shortest format of the game in international cricket. Hasan also said that the board members have tried to convince him to play in the format keeping in mind the T20 2022 World Cup scheduled later this year in Australia.
Tamim Iqbal took a break from January 27, however, he took a direct jibe at the team management saying that there has been no discussion with him regarding his future in T20 cricket. Responding to the claim Nazmul Hasan revealed that he called the cricketer at least four times to his house to discuss over the matter.
“It’s a total lie . I have called him to my house and requested him at least four times. Other members of the board also spoke with him and he said that he will not play and now look what he is saying,”- said Nazmul Hasan.
The BCB president further added- “He (Tamim) has given in writing that he will not play despite several attempts being made to convince him. So, I don’t understand where the confusion is. What I want to say is that let him say what he wants to say and later we will provide what we have in our hands. That six months is gone.”
Nazmul also added that the team management will be more than happy to include the veteran warrior in the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Notably, Tamim has played 78 matches in the format and has scored 1758 runs in them.
