India clinched the three-match ODI series 2-1 against the Windies. Star India batter, Sanju Samson made his comeback in the limited-overs format after a long time. However, he failed in the second ODI but scored a fifty in the series decider. He made his ODI debut back in 2015 and but he has struggled to make his permanent spot in the squad.

He batted at number four in the third and final ODI of the series. After his fifty, the Kerela batter talked to the broadcasters and stated about the ‘challenges’ he has faced over the last 8-9 years.“Being an Indian cricketer is challenging, I have played domestic cricket for the last 8-9 years and for India, here and there, so it gives you a bit of understanding of playing in different positions,” Samson said at the post-match presentation.

Player of the tournament was awarded to Ishan Kishan

“It is the number of overs you get and it is not about batting position so you have to prepare accordingly. It feels really great to spend some time in the middle, score some runs and contribute to your country. I had different plans for different players, I wanted to use my feet and dominate the lengths of the bowlers,” the right-hand batter added.

Ishan Kishan was awarded the Player of the Tournament in the ODI series. He scored a total of 184 runs with three consecutive fifties in the series. He scored 52 runs in the first match, 55 runs in the second match, and 77 runs in the third match of the series.

“Not so happy with the finishing that I gave. I was supposed to score big after being set. That’s what my seniors told me, I should’ve stayed in and scored big. That’s what I’ll try next time, I’ll get set in the middle and score big. It’s important at this level to get set. It’s important to forget the last game and start from 0. I was thinking of taking it one ball at a time,” Kishan was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
