Mohammed Hafeez in a recent interview revealed how he convinced Babar Azam to come down at No.3 and bat in the T20Is. Hafeez advised the batter to know how to adjust to the situations and demands of the team. Moreover, it took Hafeez two months to convince Babar to bat at No. 3 in the T20Is. Moreover, the former batter’s decision proved to be right as Babar played amazingly in the T20I series against New Zealand.

Hafeez said, “It took me 2 months to convince Babar Azam to come down and bat at No.3 in T20Is. Thank you very much to him that he accepted this and he played for Pakistan at number 3 which obviously I think is the best way to move.”

Babar Azam had a brilliant series against New Zealand where he was able to score three back-to-back half-centuries. His scores came in at a time when Pakistan needed him the most to score. Thus, it was a wise decision of Babar to come at No. 3. Since he holds experience and knows how to adapt to situations, it was important for him to play for the team. However, Pakistan lost the T20I series against New Zealand.

Babar Azam in prime form

In the ongoing Pakistan Super League matches, Babar Azam represents the Peshawar Zalmi. Recently, he became the first batter to complete 3000 PSL runs. He was 65 runs away from the record which he achieved in the match against Rilee Rossouw led Quetta Gladiators. Moreover, Fakhar Zaman, Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Rizwan are the three batters who have reached 2000 runs in the PSL.

In the match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, Babar opened the batting for the Zalmi and scored 68 runs off 42 balls along with four boundaries and as many sixes. Moreover, he made a partnership of 91 runs for the opening wicket along with Saim Ayub.
