Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar seems not at all impressed with Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis’ captaincy. The South African cricketer took over the captaincy before the ongoing season of the Indian T20 League kicked off. He has taken over the captaincy from Virat Kohli. The latter stepped down from captaincy after the completion of the last edition’s tournament. Bangalore has played two games under Du Plessis’ so far. RCB under him lost the first game against Punjab but won the second against Kolkata.

Meanwhile, the former Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar isn’t impressed with the leadership skills of the former South African skipper. Akhtar said that he is not a huge fan of the 37-year-old’s captaincy and added that there is nothing special about his captaincy.

“Virat has quit leadership and Du Plessis has taken over, so he will lead in his own way. I am not a huge fan of Faf du Plessis because I don’t see anything (special) in his captaincy,” Akhtar said during an interaction with Sportskeeda.

The 46-year-old further added that Du Plessis has a point to prove but doesn’t look sharp enough in terms of his captaincy. The Rawalpindi-born player also said that it will interesting to see whether the new skipper will be able to revive Bangalore’s fortunes or not.

‘Having said that, Faf has a point to prove. At times, he doesn’t look that sharp during his leadership. He has been given the responsibility of leading a huge franchise, so let’s see if he is able to revive their fortunes,” he added.

Virat Kohli has led the franchise from 2013 to 2021. In 2013, he took over the reins from Daniel Vettori, who led the team in 2011 and 2012. In the 140 games he led, the team has won 64, lost 69, tied three and four games ended in no result. Notably, he also led a few games in 2011 and 2012 too.
