Jasprit Bumrah reveals if he would like to become India Test captain or not
Since Virat Kohli has stepped down from his post as India captain, the BCCI now have to finalise Kohli’s successor. Few names have been doing round and undoubtedly, Rohit Sharma is the prime contender to take over the reins of the Test team as well. However, there are few reports that state that BCCI is looking for split captaincy to reduce the burden thus, may also look at alternative candidates like KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant.
Pace sensation Bumrah attended a press conference ahead of the ODI series against South Africa and was fired with a question regarding his Test captaincy. Bumrah revealed that he is not someone who will chase captaincy but will look to explore it if given an opportunity.
“Captaincy is not something that I will chase – if given an opportunity, I would like to explore,” Bumrah said in the press conference ahead of the ODI series against South Africa.
Bumrah has been named the India vice-captain for the ODI series against South Africa after KL Rahul was promoted to lead the side in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Bumrah revealed that becoming the vice-captain doesn’t make anything different as he has always been there for the players.
“I look at this situation in the same manner…taking responsibility and talking to players and helping them out has always been my approach and it will always be my approach going further keeping any situation in mind,” Bumrah said.
