 Jon Jones becomes UFC Champion after defeating Caryl Gane

American MMA fighter Jon Jones created history after he defeated Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 285. With this historic win, Jones lifted the heavyweight title and also joined the elite of the UFC fighters who have been the champions in two different weight classes. Jones had also been a heavyweight champion earlier.

Jones was coming back in the rings after three years. In his debut heavyweight fight and he claimed the victory by submission after he made Gane bite the dust only a few minutes into the match.

Jones controlled the tempo of the bout from the very first second, putting pressure on Gane with his constant striking. Halfway into the first round, Jones decided to end the fight in a devastating fashion by taking Gane down with relative ease, and quickly moving into the full mount and sinking in a guillotine choke.

Alexa Grasso defeated Valentina Shevchenko to win the women’s title

Meanwhile, Alexa Grasso defeated Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event to win the women’s title. Grasso won by submission just before the conclusion of round 4. Shevchenko was leading by 29-28,29-28,29-28 after the third round. But Grasso changed the game with her brilliant choke that shattered Shevchenko’s dream of retaining the title.

In the other matches of the main card, Shavkat Rakhmonov won by submission over Geoff Neal in the welterweight category. Meanwhile, Mateusz Gamrot becomes the lightweight champion by defeating Jalin Turner. Gamrot won by a split decision after the conclusion of all three rounds. Bo Nickal won by submission over Jamie Pickett in the first round of the middleweight category.
