Now and then Ricky Ponting is proving to the world why he is called the most successful captain and one of the best readers of the game. At Australia’s ongoing second Test against West Indies, he predicted Alex Carey’s dismissal. This entire incident happened within a short period and hence the fans went crazy over it. The video of Ponting’s commentary has gone viral on Twitter.

Ponting said, “It looks like (Carey’s) eyes are spinning a bit to me. He’s in overdrive at the moment and wants to hit every ball. “I agree with you Bish, just go a bit more defensive, make him play a big shot from a good length ball.”

As the Australian batters started throwing away their wickets, Alex Carey along with Captain Pat Cummins batted exceptionally well as they helped Australia reach a score of 289 runs. Moreover, they took a bold step in declaring the innings without taking a lead. This increased the match’s intensity and the fans are eagerly waiting for the results.

West Indies at a comfortable spot

Alex Carey came to the crease when Australia were struggling on 54 for 5. He started an amazing counterattack, racing to 50 runs off just 38 balls. Along with Usman Khwaja and Pat Cummins, Australia reached a respectable score. However, they declared their innings at 289 runs, which was an out-of-box thinking from Captain Cummins. As they thought of putting the West Indies team on the back foot, their plan failed.

West Indies batters took their job quite seriously and are already leading by 207 runs. Kirk McKenzie, Alick Athanaze, and Justin Greaves took up the charge and batted skillfully. Apart from them, the team struggled a bit in the batting department. Australia’s Josh Hazelwood and Nathon Lyon took three wickets each, while the captain remained wicketless by the end of session 2. Since two more days are left, fans will get to see an interesting match if the West Indies team puts up a good score on the scoreboard.
