India lost the second match of the five-match T20I series against West Indies by two wickets. Former Windies skipper, Nicholas Pooran was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant match-winning performance. He scored 67 runs off 40 balls with six fours and four sixes in his innings. The third T20I of the series will be played at the Providence Stadium, in Guyana on Tuesday, August 8.

If we talk about the match, the Men in Blue skipper, Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first. The visitors while batting first were able to score 152 runs for the loss of seven wickets after the completion of the first innings. The highest scorer for the side was young, Tilak Varma who scored his maiden T20I fifty. He played a brilliant knock of 51 runs from 41 balls which included five fours and a six in his innings.

I want to entertain the fans as much as possible: Nicholas Pooran

The other players like Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Sanju Samson once again failed to impress their fans as they went back to the pavilion cheaply. The pick of the bowlers for the Caribbean was Akeal Hosein, Alzari Joseph, and Romario Shepherd who snapped two wickets each in their respective spells. The left-arm spinner conceded 29 runs in his four overs while on the other hand, Joseph conceded 28 runs in his four overs. Shepherd conceded 28 runs in his three overs.

While chasing a target of 153 runs, the hosts chased down the target with two wickets in hand and seven balls remaining in their innings. Except Pooran, Hosein, and Joseph played notable knocks toward the end of the innings. They both built up an unbeaten partnership of 26 runs which took their side to victory. For India, three wickets were grabbed by Pandya and two wickets were bagged by Yuzvendra Chahal in the respective spells. One wicket each was taken by Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar.

“Satisfied that I performed. Something that I have been looking for in the last couple of years, so be there and finish games. I want to be consistent. I have been working so hard, I have made a lot of mistakes, lost a lot of games for my teams. I want to entertain the fans as much as possible. It’s about being positive and confident,” Pooran was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
