Former India Left-arm pacer Irfan Pathan expressed his anger over some Pakistani fans, celebrating Australia U-19 team victory in the final against India U-19 in the ICC U-19 World Cup at Willowmoore Park on Sunday.

The Men in Blue were all out for 174, suffering a humiliating 79-run defeat against Australia. Earlier Australia had won the toss and chose to bat first. They put 253 runs on board for the loss of 7 wickets. The Indian team had suffered a batting collapse while chasing 254. India played magnificently in the ongoing U-19 World Cup. Pakistan lost to Australia during the semifinal clash. Irfan Pathan slams the Pakistani supporters for trolling India’s U-19 players for their toxic mindset.

Veteran former pacer of India expressed his anger and wrote on X

“Despite their U19 team not making it to the final, keyboard warriors from across the border find pleasure in our youngsters’ defeat. This negative attitude reflects poorly on their nation’s mindset. #padosi”

Australia played cautiously in the beginning and stretched their final score to 253/7. Harjas Singh became the star batter to play a crucial knock of 55 runs in the final for Australia. Harry Dixon, Australia skipper Hugh Weibgen, and Oliver Peake contributed for Australia. Raj Limbani took 3 wickets for 38 runs. In reply to this, India looked very nervous at the crease. Australia Pacer Mahli Beardman and Raf MacMillan took 3 wickets each. India Opener Adarsh Singh and the late-order batter Murugan Abhishek gave some fight but it was not enough to win the World Cup.

In the presentation ceremony, India Skipper Uday Saharan Applauded his teammates for their performances in this year’s World Cup.
“I’m proud of the boys, they played really well. Showed good fighting spirit throughout the tournament. We played a few rash shots today and didn’t spend time in the middle. We were prepared but couldn’t execute the plans. Lots of learnings from this tournament learnt a lot from the support staff and even during the games. We will try to keep learning and getting better.” He said.

India U-19 skipper Uday Saharan finished as the highest run-getter with 397 runs in the 2024 U-19 World Cup.
