Former India skipper Virat Kohli came into the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh with huge expectations. After hitting his maiden T20I hundred, he recently managed to end the three-year-old century drought in ODI cricket. Now, the only format left for him to end his century drought is Test cricket. Notably, the last time he hit a century in the format was against Bangladesh in November 2019 (pre-pandemic era).

Meanwhile, in the ongoing game, he only managed to score one run before being trapped lbw by Taijul Islam. This happened in the 20h over of the innings. Islam bowled a delivery towards the leg stump and it straightened after pitching. In response, the Delhi player was hit on the back leg and the umpire didn’t hesitate to raise his index finger.

India’s hopes rest on Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara
