‘Kohli ka balla mashallah’ – Fans Go Berserk After Virat Kohli’s Outstanding Knock Against Hong Kong

After winning their Asia Cup opener against Pakistan, India took on Hong Kong on 31 August 2022. The match took place in Dubai. India was coming off a hard-fought win over arch-rovals by five wickets. On the other hand, Hong Kong was also coming off after an impressive performance in the qualifiers.

Therefore, the stage was set for both teams. India was looking to give chances to their out-of-form players ahead of this match. Meanwhile, it was a great opportunity for Hong Kong players to test their skills against the world’s top players. Speaking of the match, India skipper Rohit Sharma did not win the toss. Hence, Nizakat Khan asked India to bat first in this match.

Virat Kohli scored 59* runs off 44 balls at a strike rate of 134.09 against Hong Kong

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came out to open the innings for India. They started well. But, Rohit Sharma lost his wicket after scoring 21 runs off 13 balls. Then, Virat Kohli came out to bat. He looked good against Pakistan as he scored 35 runs off 34 balls. Hence, fans were expecting a better show from this star batter. However, he did not disappoint them. Virat Kohli showed a lot of intent as he scored an unbeaten fifty. Since 2019, he failed to show his old form for India across all formats. Hence, everyone was expecting to see him in action in this tournament.

He scored 59* runs off 44 balls at a strike rate of 134.09. He also hit one four and three sixes throughout his innings. KL Rahul failed again to score big as he got out for 36 runs off 39 balls. Along with Suryakumar Yadav, Kohli stitched an unbeaten partnership of 98 runs. Yadav also remained unbeaten on 68 runs off 26 balls only at a strike rate of 261.53. They ensured that India scored 192 runs in 20 overs by losing two wickets only. Suryakumar Yadav hit six fours and six over-boundaries in his innings.
