Rajasthan Royals star young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has impressed everyone with his performance in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. The 21-year-old has amassed 575 runs in 12 matches so far at an average of 52.27 and a strike of 167.15, with six half-centuries and one hundred.

In RR’s recent game against Kolkata Knight Riders, Jaiswal created history by smashing the fastest half-century in IPL, in just 13 deliveries. He broke the joint-record of KL Rahul and Pat Cummins who hit a fifty in 14 balls. Star Indian batter Virat Kohli was also impressed with Jaiswal’s fiery knock as he applauded the young batter through his Instagram story with the caption, “Wow, this is some of the best batting I have seen in a while. What a talent Yashasvi Jaiswal.”

After the match, Jaiswal got emotional as he expressed his wish of representing India in the coming ODI World Cup that is scheduled to be hosted by India later in the year. He said that he wants to bat at number three for India in the World Cup and hoped that the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma consider him for that role.

“I want to play at 3 in ODI World Cup which is happening in India. This is my dream, I hope Rohit Bhaiya considers me,” said Jaiswal at a post-match press conference.

“It was a nice feeling today. It is not like everything I wanted happens, I prepare well and I trust in myself. I know the results will come. The winning shot was a great feeling, I wanted to finish the game, and winning the game has been my motto,” he further added.

Yuzvendra Chahal becomes the leading wicket-taker in IPL

Talking about the match, RR registered a one-sided victory over KKR in match number 56 of the season to keep themselves alive in the tournament. Batting first, KKR posted 149 for the loss of 8 wickets, powered by the half-century by Venkatesh Iyer who got out after scoring 57 off 42 balls. Yuzvendra Chahal took 4 wickets for RR conceding 25 runs in his four overs. With this, Chahal also became the all-time leading wicket-taker of the IPL with 184 wickets to his name.

Chasing the winning total, Jaiswal gave a flying start to RR by smashing 26 runs off the very first over of the innings. He remained unbeaten by smashing 98 runs off 47 balls along with the skipper Sanju Samson who scored 48 off 29, as RR chased the winning total with nine wickets in hand and 41 balls to spare.
