After a rain-interrupted start to season 2 of SA20, on Day 2, MI Cape Town locked horns with the Durban Super Giants. In match 2 of the ongoing tournament, DSG beat MICT by 11 runs after rain played as an anti-climax. Star batters Heinrich Klaasen and Ryan Rickelton smashed wonderful half-centuries.

Earlier, in the game, DSG skipper Keshav Maharaj won the toss and opted to bowl first. His decision didn’t go well with the team, as MICT posted a massive total of 207/5 in 20 overs. Young wicketkeeper-batter Ryan Rickelton smashed a magnificent half-century and led MICT to a comfortable position. He scored 87 runs off 51 balls with the help of six fours and six maxims.

Rickelton, along with Rassie Van der Dussen, added 82 runs for the first wicket in just 7.3 overs. However, some quick wickets in the middle overs derailed MICT’s innings. In the end, skipper Kieron Pollard tried to smash some runs. In his unbeaten innings, Pollard scored 31 runs on 14 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six. DSG Keemo Paul took two wickets, while Maharaj, Dwane Pretorius, and Richard Gleeson took one wicket each.

Chasing a massive total, DSG had a poor start. The team lost two wickets for a mere 12 runs. Wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock and Wiaan Mulder were dismissed for 5 runs each by Kagiso Rabada and B. Hendricks, respectively. After their departure, Keemo Paul tried to put up some runs but fell after scoring 15 runs to Olly Stone, leaving DSG crumbling for 52/3.

However, after these quick dismissals, opener Matthew Breetzek and Heinrich Klaasen added 47 runs for the fourth wicket. Breetzek, in his inning, scored 39 runs off 24 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes. After his departure, Klassen took the charge and launched an absolute carnage. He, along with Nicholas Pooran, added 41 runs for the fifth wicket.

Klassen eventually scored 85 runs off 35 balls with the help of four boundaries and eight sixes. He was dismissed by MICT pacer Kagiso Rabada. However, an anticlimax from Rain stopped the play. In the end, Klassen led DSG to a massive victory, as they were 11 runs ahead of DLS by par. With this victory, DSG tops the table for the ongoing tournament.
