 Lasith Malinga has a message for the Australian team

The Australian Cricket Team is currently in Sri Lanka for three T20Is, five ODIs, and two Test matches. In the recent few months, Sri Lanka faced a lot of trouble due to the economic crisis. It also cast doubts over conducting the ongoing series. However, despite this tough situation, Australia came here as per schedule.

It was a great gesture from them during this tough time as this series can help the country from an economical perspective. In regards to the same,  former Sri Lankan pacer, Lasith Malinga took his official Twitter account to thank Australian players for showing their support.

Sri Lankan people will forever be grateful for this” – Malinga wrote

NewsWire of Sri Lanka shared a video on their Twitter account where Australian players like Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc could be seen showing support to the country during this crisis period.

The duo said that they are looking to raise awareness about the economical crisis. They are also looking to help in whatever ways they can much like their former teammate, Shane Warne, did after that Tsunami incident took place. These cricketers also added that being a neighbour, they must help each other in a bid to strengthen the bond between the two nations. 

They said that United Nations have launched an appeal to fight this crisis situation in Sri Lanka and together, they can put an end to this situation completely. Former Sri Lanka legend, Malinga retweeted this video by stating ‘thank you” to Australia.

Malinga showed gratitude to both Mitchell Starc and Steve Smith and sent a special thanks to Cricket Australia for touring Sri Lanka amidst these difficult times. He also promised that the Sri Lankan people will be forever grateful for this.

Speaking about the series, two T20Is have been played already and Australia have already wrapped up the series by winning both of them. Australia and Sri Lanka will locks horns with each other in the third T20I against Sri Lanka on 11 June 2022 in Pallekele.
