According to a report in Times of India, Chennai pacer Deepak Chahar might miss out on the entire season of the Indian T20 League. Chahar sustained a hamstring injury during the third T20I against the West Indies on February 20 and was ruled out of the game and the following T2oI series against Sri Lanka.

The right-arm swing bowler was bought by the four-time winners on February 11 for 14 crores INR. Entering into the auction at a base price of 2 crores, teams such as Delhi, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, and Chennai wanted to acquire his services. He has been part of the Yellow Brigade since 2018. The Rajasthan-born player has a knack for picking wickets in the powerplay. He has 59 scalps to his name in 63 games at an economy of 7.80.

If he misses out for the entire season, it will be a big blow for the team as he is also a handy batter down the order. The right-hander has a strike rate of 138.59 with a best score of 39 which he got in 2018. The 29-year-old has been part of the trophy winning campaign for the side in seasons 2018 and 2021. Meanwhile, sources has said that Chahar’s injury looks bad at this point.

“His injury looks bad. For all you know, he could be out of the IPL too (he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14 crore in the IPL auction),” a source was quoted saying to The Times Of India.
